or where you are on life’s journey, you are welcome here!

Fort Atkinson First Congregational United Church of Christ welcomes all visitors!  We are blessed with a warm faith family and a beautiful facility, and we want to share our church home as a place where all can engage in worship, contemplation, fellowship and service.

Sunday worship services are at 10:00 am, with summer worship (June 2 – September 1) at 8:30 am.  The service is easy to follow, with everything printed in the weekly bulletin.  Hymnals and Bibles (Good News Translation) are conveniently located in the pews.   Whether it’s your first time inside a church or you are familiar with a different denomination, we’re confident you’ll feel at ease here.

Communion, using elements of grape juice and gluten-free bread, is typically served the first Sunday of each month, and all are welcome to partake.

Children of all ages are welcome in worship.  Our sanctuary includes a “soft nursery” area for quiet play by our youngest members and visitors who can be part of worship with their families.

There’s no dress code and you can wear to worship whatever you feel is comfortable and appropriate.  On a Packers game day, you’re likely to see a few green-and-gold jerseys in the pews, and on a summer day, it might be a Hawaiian shirt and sandals.   On the other hand, if you like to get done up in your “Sunday best,” that’s fine with us, too!

When you come to visit, you’ll find a congenial group of people who welcome you to worship and to participate in other activities at your own pace.  Many of our members grew up in other denominations or were members of other churches before finding themselves here, so many of us were visitors here once, too! If you need a Bible for home use, please let the Pastor or the church secretary know, and we can help you with that.

The United Church of Christ celebrates diversity and encourages questions and open discussion in our Christian faith journey.  In February of 2020 our congregation approved a “Covenant of Inclusion,” declaring:

“The First Congregational Church, United Church of Christ, Fort Atkinson, Wisconsin, is an inclusive congregation who welcomes all persons, including those of all races, ethnicities, ages, sexual orientations, gender identities and expressions, family structures, faith backgrounds, abilities and economic circumstances. All persons are invited to fully share and participate in leadership, ministry, fellowship, worship, sacraments, responsibilities, blessings and joys of our church family.”

Our sanctuary, Plymouth Hall, Werthmann Room and church offices are all wheelchair-accessible via an elevator at the Milwaukee Street entrance, and a ramp at the side entrance from Grant Street.  Large-print bulletins are available, along with hearing-amplification devices.  Please be sure to let us know if we can assist you with these or any other needs.
