Ministries

Members and friends of First Congregational UCC serve each other as well as those outside the church in the following ministries: 

• Church Relations – Members of this ministry (formerly Evangelism) spread the Good News of the Gospel through press releases, special events and activities, publicity and visitor follow-up as designated by the Church Council.
• Congregational Peanuts – These delectable, crunchy morsels, prepared by a dedicated group of church members, are sold as a fundraiser for the church.
• Food Pantry – First Congregational UCC provides the volunteer staffing for the Fort Atkinson Food Pantry two months each year.
• Fort Atkinson Preschool and Childcare – A non-denominational, non-profit, self-supporting facility, located in our church’s lower level. K-4 preschool is also offered at the facility.
• Lend-A-Hand Society – A group of church members whose motto is “Look Up and not Down, Out and not In, Forward and not Back, and Lend-A-Hand” can be found assisting the everyday needs of the church from folding bulletins to preparing funeral luncheons and countless other ways to “lend-a-hand”.
• Meals on Wheels – First Congregational UCC coordinates drivers to deliver nutritious meals to homebound people in Fort Atkinson two months each year.
• Music – In addition to hymn singing during worship, the choir, hand bells, and ensemble groups offer traditional and contemporary music to enhance our worship experience.
• Prayer Chain – “Prayer Warriors” are notified via e-mail of requests for prayers for church members, relatives and friends.
• Quilt and Shawl Ministries – Our Prayers and Squares Quilt and Shawl Ministry offers comfort and prayers to anyone in need in the form of a quilt or a shawl.
